Obituary for Charles E Lampman

Charles E. Lampman, 96 passed away on July 18th, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Charles was born on May 12, 1921 to Claude and Zelda (Busby) Lampman at Plum Creek in Pepin County, Wisconsin. He grew up and went to school at Porcupine Valley, Arkansaw, and Eau Claire. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School. He attended District One Technical School for two years in Accounting and Business Law.
Charles and his brother Dale sang Amazing Grace and other songs at church services. Charles later would go to be a Lay Minister in the R.L.D.S. church for many years.
Charles enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps on September 3, 1942 and received his basic training at La Vegas, NM. He was chosen for radio training and served as a radio operator and co-pilot first on a bomber, and later transport aircraft in Egypt, Africa and last in the Burma, India and China Theatre in WWII til 1946. He was a Second Lieutenant and a bronze star recipient.
Charles married Rosemary Virginia Krszjzaniek on February 14, 1945 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Charles loved to dance and met Rose at a dance hall. Charles and Rose spent their entire lives in the Eau Claire area. Throughout his time, he worked various jobs: a factory worker at Presto Industries, a salesman for Mary’s Laundry (which later turned into Huebsch Laundry), bartender at Sherman Creek Inn, driver and supervisor for Huebsch Laundry and a driver for LP Gas Company.
Charles and Rose cared for his aging father, and mother until their deaths. Charles and Rose never had any children.
He is survived by one brother; Dale H. Lampman of Eau Claire; sister-in-law Alice (Chapin) (Lampman) Crosby of Midland, Michigan; and various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Claude and Zelda (Busby) Lampman, a younger brother Gaylord Eldon Lampman, a sister Floy Berneda Eva (Lampman) Tullis.
Charles loved to dance even into his later years. He enjoyed meeting people and helping in many ways. After the war years, Charles and Rose spent time fishing and roughing it in northern Wisconsin with Roses family; Log cabins, old boats and lots of fishing.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy, with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. . Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel on Tuesday. Burial will take place at the Brunswick Cemetery with military honors.
