Obituary for Ethel Jean Cass

Ethel Jean (Allen) Mann-Cass, 91, of Eau Claire passed away on November 30, 2017 at Our House Assisted Living in Menomonie, WI to join our heavenly father.

She was born in Winter, WI on September 23, 1926 to William and Lulu (Harshman) Allen. Ethel was employed at Bill’s Café as a grill cook for nearly 40 years. Following Bill’s Café, she worked as a homecare health aide for many people in the surrounding area. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading her Bible. She was always ready with a hot meal for anyone who stopped by. Not only did she love cooking but she had a natural talent for baking bread. Ethel had a full-time job taking care of her kids, grandkids, and her great-grandkids. When the Ridgeland Fair was in town Ethel attended, she never missed the fair once. Every Sunday morning Ethel would be attending church, until she was physically unable. She loved spending time with her family and getting motorcycle rides at the age of 80. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Eugene (Carolyn), Terry, and Yvonne (Jerry); step-children, Jim (Nancy) and Sandy (Joe); grandchildren, Cathy (Jake), Carol (Lonnie), Eugene, Jody, Julie (Brad), Kevin (Wendy), Brian, Greg, Mandi (Jesse), Kassia, and Julia; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren with two more on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Alvin, Henry, Larry, and George; her infant son, David; her son, Jerome, and her daughter, Pamela; her 12 siblings; her grandson, Michael; step-children Catherine, Joyce, Bonnie, and Bud.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 5-7pm at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona, WI 54720.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel at 12:00pm with Rev. Dr. Dwayne Winterberg officiating. A visitation will be held one hour before the service.

A Graveside service will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery.

Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.stokesprockandmundt.com.

"The Cross In My Pocket"
I carry a cross in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am a Christian
No matter where I may be.

This little cross is not magic
Nor is it a good luck charm
It isn't meant to protect me
From every physical harm.

It's not for identification
For all the world to see
It's simply an understanding
Between my Savior and me.

When I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or key
The cross is there to remind me
Of the price He paid for me.

It reminds me, too, to be thankful
For my blessing day by day
And to strive to serve Him better
In all that I do and say.

It's also a daily reminder
Of the peace and comfort I share
With all who know my Master
And give themselves to His care.

So, I carry a cross in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That Jesus Christ is Lord of my life
If only I'll let Him be.
